A Boy and a Mustang

The story of Bodie, a 4 year old gelding from the West Douglas Herd Area in Colorado. Carson, our Jr. GEMS Trainer, started working with this boy in the beginning of June when we brought him to our place from The Great Escape Mustang Sanctuary. Bodie had been gathered from the West Douglas Herd Area last Fall and was wild. He has challenged Carson’s abilities at every corner, making him rethink how to approach training from different ways.  For a mom watching her son go through this growth process, learning so much about himself, is incredible. For a person who advocates and dedicates her life to the mustangs, seeing the difference Carson has made in Bodie’s life, is incredible. Bodie now experiences the freedom of grazing amongst our personal herd on a 25 acre pasture, and yes, Carson can go out and catch him every time…there’s still wild in that boy, but the trust that he now has in people is a beautiful thing. Carson will take Bodie through saddle training, then he will be available for adoption. These pictures are from the first touch on…
