Colorado Gives Day makes good happen for more than 3,000 local nonprofits. What began in 2010 has grown to one of the largest giving days in the US. In 2020, the annual statewide movement raised more than $50 million in 24 hours. This celebration of giving helps donors give where they live to the causes they care about most.

This year for Colorado Gives Day, GEMS is introducing our newest program:

Mustangs in need in our community…since 2011, GEMS has been providing solutions for Mustangs both on and off the range. We have taken in over 850 for training and adoption, maintain a permanent sanctuary home for 36, and have received many requests from owners in over their heads and in need of help. Here’s the reality- not every mustang is suitable for our domestic world, it can take years of training for some to come around and finding homes for others can be extremely difficult. Rescues are full, sanctuaries are full, yet the need to re-home Mustangs continues at an overwhelming pace.

What happens when we come across an owner that has fallen on difficult times and needs to re-home their Mustang for financial reasons? What if they wouldn’t need to relinquish their horses if they could just find some temporary relief to get back on their feet? Maybe their Mustang partners are in need of hay, farrier, vet or dental work, but otherwise have a caring, loving and long term home?

Introducing the GEMS CareBank! We will provide relief to those in need so horses can stay in their homes, in turn reducing the need for relinquishment and keeping Mustangs out of the already saturated rescue market.

We are always trying to problem solve and figure out where we are needed the most. Since the introduction of our GEMS BRANDED Equine Network in May 2021, we have grown our Network of Trainer & Foster Partners to over 15 and can intake more horses for foster, training and adoption than we ever have been able to do in the past. And now, with the GEMS CareBank, we will be able to offer yet another solution.
