GEMS and SWAT with the Logan School in Sand Wash Basin
GEMS and SWAT went out to the Sand Wash Basin range yesterday. We met a group of excited, engaged, interested and very intelligent 6th-8th grade children and teachers from the Logan School for Creative Learning in Denver. Really an amazing group, we had a great time touring the range, braving the wind…yikes, it was blowing out there and spending time with the horses. BLM Ranger Ed Hendricks, Renee Littlehawk from Calicura’s Outfitting, as well as Patrick Brennan and the Three Amigos of SWB Wild Horse Youth Outreach Program met the group to discuss different topics and decisions that affect the range and the horses with the children. The main takeaway from the day…the absolute beauty in groups coming together to support and bring awareness to the horses on and off the range. The BLM and the public working together for the good of the horses…a very cool day for us, our mission and goals at work! A big thank you to everyone for making it a great day that the kids will always remember.
