Spring is here and has come with many much needed moisture events at GEMS…we even got hit quite hard by a “bomb-cyclone” last month that closed all of our surrounding county roads and highways, as they were impassable from the large amounts of snow and wind. Lot’s of snow means lot’s of ice, then lot’s of mud! We are so grateful for this as the pastures will begin to turn green, however, this has made getting a jump start on our Spring projects not so easy. Because of this, we’re turning April into Volunteer Month at GEMS!
We are excited to share our wonderful line-up of programs this Summer & Fall, be sure to scroll down and browse the activities we have in store for you.
As always, hay is a massive need for us at GEMS, in fact, it’s one of our largest expenses. And…a load just arrived yesterday along with a $3900 bill. The horses are happy, but it leaves us financially challenged! If you feel inspired to donate, we would sure appreciate the help covering the cost of this load of hay.
We have moved 23 horses out of holding facilities and into private homes so far this year. We would love to do more! We are ready and able to save more horses, however, hay is our biggest limiting factor of how many horses we can help.
Your donations will allow us to make a bigger impact, save more horses, and continue the work we wake up every morning dedicated to do!
Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you soon at the ranch!
