Thanksgiving brings a sense of togetherness, a sense of community and a sense of gratitude. And we are so very grateful for our supporters, for the horses and for the lives that we are able to impact by the work that we do. It’s in the collaborations, it’s in the coming together where we can accomplish great things.
Our annual fundraising event was a success! A tremendous thank you to our sponsors, donors, attendees and wonderful special guest, Mary Miller Jordan. The money that we were able to raise will help us to support the horses during the winter months. However, with each $5,000 hay load and our additional daily ranch expenses, those funds do go quickly. In case you weren’t able to participate in this years Boots, Buckles & Bourbon fundraising event, there are a couple more opportunities for you to help support us before the year comes to an end! In both of these fundraising campaigns there are incentives aimed at boosting each donation dollar, making your gift go even farther. November 27th, Facebook is partnering with PayPal in #GivingTuesday to match a total of up to $7 million in donations made on Facebook to eligible US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits.
Matching donations will begin at 8:00am EST (6:00am MST) and expire when
$7 million in donations is reached or at 11:59pm PST.
This year we are focusing our campaign on #hayfortheholidays!

Community First Foundation and FirstBank are presenting Colorado Gives Day on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. This annual statewide movement celebrates and increases philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. The $1 Million Incentive Fund created by the partners is one of the largest giving-day incentive funds in the country. Donate right here on ColoradoGives.org to make your donations.

Adoption Spotlight: Buddy
6 year old gelding + born in holding + approx 14.2hh
BLM adoption fee $125
Buddy is a super sweet gelding who is a graduate of our Veterans Program that took place last month. He is easy to catch, even in a shared paddock. Leads well, knows lots of ground work, and is prepped for the vet and farrier. Buddy loads in the trailer, stands tied, and accepts a saddle. He even has recently been started under saddle. Updates from the Range
Sand Wash Basin HMA
++ As snow begins to drop in the basin access becomes an issue, please check with local weather conditions before visiting the range, as roads become dangerous quickly.
++ This season, our darting team has administered 226 fertility control treatments to Sand Wash Basin mares in a continued effort to reduce the number of foals born each year. A tremendous effort and a huge commitment from our dedicated volunteers. Good work ladies!
++ We are looking forward to some new things in store for those of you that follow the SWB herd closely, so stay tuned for an exciting 2019…
Mary Miller-Jordan, our special guest from this year’s Boots, Buckles & Bourbon, has an exciting new online course coming up that we want to share with you. Those of you that attended our Sunday event will remember Mary’s two new partners, the Wild Mustang mama and filly! Mary is creating an online course, that features her style of gentling with these two new wild horses. We will be sharing registration details for this upcoming course in our December newsletter.
