Surma is a 3 year old TITLED gelding from Sand Wash Basin. He was gathered in January 2017 and was passed over at the adoption event. Surma went back to the BLM with the promise to enter into saddle training for Border Patrol, however in fall, we discovered that he (and 2 of his friends) were in a holding facility in Illinois and had never been in Border Patrol training. With your help, we were able to retrieve Surma and his friends and they are all now safe at GEMS.
Surma arrived at GEMS on February 1 and very quickly showed his trainer how much he wanted to be adopted. Surma was haltered and enjoying petting on his very first day of training and today, 2 short weeks after his arrival, he is calmly wearing a saddle and taking walks around the property.
Surma has a unique physical feature that sets him apart from the other sorrel Mustangs out there… he has a bleach spot on his hip! It is very prominent on his summer coat and looks quite special.
Surma is halter trained, gentle to be touched everywhere, leads well, has been saddled, stands tied, understands basic ground work, and has an overall calm demeanor.
Surma stands 14.2hh but is very stout and will likely gain a couple inches as he matures.
Surma is TITLED, meaning he is not subject to BLM approval. He will be sent home with an in-house adoption agreement to ensure his safety throughout his life.
