taste of freedom for our Sand Wash Basin girls!

The girls are out on pasture & finding their way with the help of the horses already out. It was a very exciting day and fun to see how they adjust to the extra space, about 800 acres of extra space. Since 2008, when they were gathered from Sand Wash Basin as yearlings, they have called the Canon City holding facility home. The day they arrived at the sanctuary, just before Christmas, I dreamt of the day we could let them out of the corral. We took our time getting to know each one, selected a few for training and got them all to understand exactly what a grain bucket was. The pasture was greening up nicely and it was time. Many tears were shed that afternoon, tears of joy for their freedom.
