welcome to the ranch, boys!

Our 2 new burros arrived safe and sound to the ranch Friday afternoon, then it started snowing, and snowing, and snowing. With about 10″ in total over the weekend, the animals, despite their shedding winter coats, made it through like troopers. Our 31 year old Spanish Mustang, the veteran to these spring storms, rolled through it with ease. All 3 of our burros and little Spanish Mustang filly, Ayashe, braved the storm in the comfort of their barn stalls…although it was quite a chore getting those 2 new burros in. Chimi and Changa, having just come in from Canon City, had never really experienced the inside of a barn before and were certain that they were going to die if they went in. With alot of coaxing and convincing, they finally jumped in and we were able to dry them off, they were happy little campers and we were able to sleep knowing they were all safe and warm.

The ranch has also become home to a new cat that we call ‘Cry Baby’, he loves to share his voice….he’s friendly as heck to all the animals and humans and we’re happy have him around. The mice, maybe not so much…
