Johona - wild sanctuary herd member

Johona the Nevada Mustang is a living echo of desert wisdom, freedom, and the art of survival. Shaped by the wild desert winds, she moves with a quiet strength, embodying the delicate dance between independence and resilience. Her journey whispers of trusting our instincts, bending with life’s shifting sands, and finding untold strength in solitude. Johona teaches us to stand grounded yet remain light-footed, always ready to race with the wind and embrace the endless horizons that life unveils.

Johona, born in 2004, is a Nevada Mustang that came to us from our friends at The Colorado Horse Rescue. She was with them for quite some time and in their training program, where she was having troubles with retention. That’s when they turned to us as an option for a forever home for her. She was released into our sanctuary herd in 2016 and has been living wild ever since.

When you become a Mustang Guardian and sign up for a monthly reoccurring donation of any level, you receive an artist print of the Mustang you are sponsoring.
