IN PERSON CLINIC: Desensitizing VS Sensitizing

JOIN US AT LITTLE HAWK RANCH IN LONGMONT, COLORADO

Desensitization: the things that will be a part of your horses every day life that they do not need to be worried about.

Examples: a saddle and rider moving up on their back, the sound of your voice when talking to other people, hand movement while up in the saddle, stimulus, such as, strollers, tarps, dogs, cars and trucks and anything on the edge of an arena or a parade.

Sensitizing: the things you want your horse to be sensitive to, and respond to quickly.

Example: picking up speed with a slight leg or verbal queue, responding with softness to the rein when you simply pick them up, responding to hand movements in liberty work, and overall being attentive to what you are asking them to do at that time.

*It is helpful if your horse is under saddle, but not necessary.

ALL AUDITOR CLINIC

In this clinic we will be going over the basic anatomy of the hoof capsule and explaining how these structures work together to support the horse in movement.

You will also learn to identify external reference points to find internal structures of the hoof and learn how these internal soft tissues are affected by hoof growth and imbalances.

Once you are able to identify these points of reference externally, we will then start the dissection process so you can see the internal working of the hoof and gain a better understanding of how the hoof functions from the inside out.
